Major Tool and Machine

“Our programmers rate the posting process as the best they have ever used especially with the complexity of our one time expensive parts.”

IMS is an integral part of Major Tool and Machine’s success as a custom manufacturer of large parts. We have large complex multi-axis machines such as our Dorries which is an eight axis gantry mill with multiple milling and lathe heads. We have a total of 35 customized CNC machine tools with a variety of controls such as Siemens 840D, Fanuc 15/16/300i, Mazatrol, and Cincinnati Milacrons. We program using CatiaV5 and post process all our programs using IMS post that I have written using IMSpost Professional. All our machines have tool and part probes and all probing is fully supported with our IMS post.

I have nothing but positive praise for IMS software and for the tools it provides me for writing my custom post processors. Our programmers rates the posting process as the best that they have ever used especially with the complexity of our one time expensive parts. IMS technical support is the best. Always quick responses with a solution to any situation that I have encountered.

“They are extremely customer-centric. To say they are responsive is an understatement.”

I can definitely recommend IMS for custom post generation. They have completed several 5-axis posts for Fort Walton Machining. They are extremely customer-centric. To say they are responsive is an understatement. They have responded immediately, sometimes when the request is made outside of normal business hours. They are technically astute and all of our Programmers enjoy working with them.

“I would like to compliment IMS on the great product that you have developed and on your enthusiasm in working with universities to provide accessibility and training in the use of this important technology. We have found it to be indispensable to supporting teaching of our CAD/CAM and CNC classes.”

I would like to compliment IMS on the great product that you have developed and on your enthusiasm in working with universities to provide accessibility and training in the use of this important technology.  We have found it to be indispensable to supporting teaching of our CAD/CAM and CNC classes. Our laboratories have several 3-axis mills that utilize posts developed using IMSpost. Access to this powerful software tool gives us the ability to modify how programs look as our teaching preferences evolve. It is also important for posting to be reliable as our beginning students lack the trouble shooting experience of a seasoned part programmer. We have found posting using IMSpost to be extremely reliable.

Currently, we have a couple of projects in the works involving students, to develop posts for a Mazak Mill/Turn machine and to integrate a 4th axis on one of our 3-axis mills. This follows a number of other past projects where students have been exposed to the use of this tool in generating code to manipulate Virtual CNC machines. We continue to look for new ways to expose our students to the importance of post processing. This would not be possible without access to a tool such as IMSpost.

Finally, I would like to commend the entire support staff at IMS both for the vast wealth of knowledge they possess and their willingness to assist with problems. The training I received at their headquarters in Haverhill was extremely beneficial and opened my eyes to exciting future trends and research
opportunities in this area.

“I want to commend you on your customer support team. Every question that I've asked of your team has been answered within a day or two and has been top notch.”

I just wanted to take a moment and commend you guys on your customer support team. Up until now, we’ve just used IMS out of the box and have lived in the fantasy of things being perfect; and for the most part, everything was great. Now that I’m wanting to take it the final step and use the post code to machine and cut parts, there are little changes we need to make here and there (probably like 99.9% of your customers do), and any question that I’ve asked of your customer support team has been answered within a day or two and has been top notch. I know we’re just a little guy, but I just want to tell them that they’re doing a great job.

In any case, I don’t want to bug you, I just wanted to make sure you knew customer service was doing a great job and send praise when praise is due. Most of the time you only hear negative feedback, so I wanted to toss out a bit of positive feedback when warranted! I’ll be sure to add this to my list of great things I say about IMS when teaching!

Elbit Systems - Cyclone

“Since we have been using this software we have reduced our prove out time to almost ZERO on the actual machine and we expect to get a 'First Article Inspection' EVERY TIME.”

Since 1999 Elbit Systems – Cyclone have worked in close conjunction with IMS to improve and devolve all of their off machine post processing and verification systems. They now use IMS Software exclusively to generate all of their NC machine tool code for Fanuc, Siemens , Mazak, and a variety of other less known controls systems whilst IMSverify process verification software is used on all of their machine tools including 3, 4, & 5 Axis configurations.

“We run all of our programs on IMS verification software and issues can easily be seen and corrected by the programmer prior to actual machining. Once we see the correct result on IMSverify we can send the NC program to the machine tool.

Since we have been using this software we have reduced our prove out time to almost ZERO on the actual machine and we expect to get a ‘First Article Inspection’ EVERY TIME’. This has saved us valuable machine tool hours, scrap parts, broken tools, and machine damage. Additional to this is the confidence factor it gives the programmer and machine tool operator. This is a must have tool for any machine shop”.
